Srimad Bhagavad Gita -Ramanujacharya

Chapter-18 Mokṣa Sannyāsa Yogaḥ

yad agre cānubandhe ca sukhaṃ mohanam ātmanaḥ | nidrālasya pramādotthaṃ tat tāmasam udāhṛtam || 39 || 39. That pleasure which is characterised by self-delusion both in the beginning and the sequel, arising from sleep, indolence and negligence is declared to be Tamasic. Commentary Here 'delusion' means the absence of knowledge about things as they really are. 'Sloth' is lethargy in the activities of the senses. When sensory perceptions are slow, retardation results. 'Negligence' is neglect of one's duty. From this too, one's learning becomes obstructed. In this manner these two (sloth & negligence) cause delusion.
