Chapter-10 Vibhūti Yogaḥ

teṣām evānukam pārtham aham ajñānajaṃ tamaḥ |
nāśayāmy-ātmabhāvastho jñāna-dīpena-bhāsvatā || 11 ||

11. Out of compassion for them alone, I, being the focus of their thought processes, dispel the
darkness born of ignorance by the brilliant lamp of wisdom.

Commentary

To show mercy to them alone, abiding in their thought flow, ie., established as the object of their thoughts — I dispel the darkness born of ignorance in the form of old samskaras consisting of attachment to objects other than Myself, to which they were previously habituated. Thus having heard of the multitude of auspicious attributes, and of the extent of the sovereign glories of the Lord which are unique and different from all others and which generate unsurpassed joy in listeners, Arjuna expresses a desire to hear the details about them and said: —
