Chapter 2
Sankhya Yoga

19. The one who thinks him (the Jiva) capable of killing another and who thinks him (the Jiva) capable of being killed by another, both of them do not know (the truth). He neither kills nor is killed.
Bhashya :- In normal empirical world life appears is delusion, thus says Sri Krishjna. How? As said above neither he kills not is he killed. It could not be the action of the reflection - प्रतिबिम्ब. He (Jiva) becomes creative only with the energizing activity of the Creator. The scriptures also say ध्यायतीव - being energized by the Lord.
Tatparya Nirnaya :- If 'He who thinks him (the Jiva) to be a killer independently,' (is the correct reading), then (the declaration by the Lord) „kill those whom I have already killed‟ [1] will be contradictory. Even as the word हन्तारम् is applicable to the Consciousness (Jiva), even so it is also applicable to the Lord also.
