Commentary

After being encouraged by her sakhé, Rädhä arrives at the forest pavilion. She is somewhat shy, but when she sees Shri Hari is already there, she becomes even more bashful. The doorway of the nikuïja is lit up by the radiance of her ornaments, her pearl necklace, gold waist-belt, topaz and jewelled earrings. She can see Kṛṣṇa waiting for her by the light of these ornaments and as soon as she sees him, she is over whelmed with embarrassment. It is appropriate for passionate young women to employ shyness as a means of creating an abundance of käma on the occasion of their first union. Now the sakhé is obliging Rädhä to step forward from the doorway into the love chamber. The chanda of this verse is vasanta-tilakä.
