Yadā viniyatam attain-ātmanyevāvatisthate
Nihspr/iah sarva-kāmebhyo yukta ityucyate tads,

18. When the completely controlled mind rests in the Self alone, free from longing for all desires, then is one said to be steadfast (firmly established).

When the completely controlled mind of the yogin, wellrestrained and having attained to one-pointedncss, rests in the Self alone, having given up all external thoughts, stays in its natural state, namely the Self, which is second-less, free from longing for all desires for objects seen and unseen, then, at that time, is one said to be steadfast, absorbed in samādhi.
