Commentary

This song of Shri Jayadeva Gosvämé defames necklaces strung from pearls and other precious jewels and casts them far away. It deflates the enthusiasm of beautiful young women. May it always beautify the throats of the devotees of Bhagavän. Vaiñëavas such as Paräçara, whose hearts are attached to Bhagavän, will not wear necklaces of jewels. Instead, they will wear this necklace narrated by Jayadeva.

They will also embrace this song instead of embracing beautiful women. Necklaces and beautiful women adorn the bosom of those who are attached to the endless chain of birth and death; and even then, not in all conditions; only during the period of youthfulness. May this song adorn the throats of the devotees of Bhagavän under all circumstances because it is about Shri Hari. This twentieth song of Shri Géta-govinda is entitled Shri Hari-tälaräjijaladhara- viläsita. The rasa herein is vipralambha-çåìgära. The hero is uttama näyaka.
