2. Control of senses

3. Undergoing hardships for the sake of duty

4. External and internal purity

5. Forgiveness

6. Uprightness of body and mind etc.

7. Knowledge of the Vedas and scriptures

8. Realization

9. Belief in God and the scriptures—these are Brahmana's inherent duties.(42)
