Commentary

Krishna will now deliver the teaching about the Gunas — Sattva, Rajas and Tamas, which is distinct from what was taught earlier, but still in connection with the subject of

Prakrti and Purusha.

idaṃ jñānam upāśritya mama sadharmyam āgatāḥ |
sarge’pi nopajāyante pralaye na vyathanti ca || 2 ||

2. Resorting to learning this and participating in My Being, they are not born at the time of
universal projection, nor do they suffer at the time of its dissolution.
