maghasya shukla-pancamyam
vasantadau harih svayam
tasam prema-parikshartham
krishno vai tad-grihan gatah[1]

On the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Magha (January-February), as springtime was about to begin, to test their love for Him, Lord Krishna went to these gopis' homes
