tada shakti-dharah shaktim
tasmai cikshepa sa-tvarah
tayaika-pado bhagno 'bhun
na mritah pakshinam varah[1]


Then Karttikeya threw his shakti-weapon at him. Although one of his feet was cut, that demon, the best of birds, did not die.
