16. avibhaktam ca brutes
vibhaktam iva ca sthitam
bhiitabhartr ca taj jneyam
grasisnu prabhavisnu ca
(16) He is undivided (indivisible) and yet He seems to be divided among beings. He is to be known as supporting creatures, destroying them and creating them afresh
Cp. Dionysius : "Undivided in things divided." All things derive from Him, are supported by Him and taken back into Him.
17. yotisam api taj .jyotis
tamasah param ucyate
jnanana neyam jnanagamyam
hrdi sarvasya dhisthitam
(17) He is the Light of lights, said to be beyond darkness. Knowledge, the object of knowledge and the goal of knowledge—He is seated in the hearts of all.

18. it ksetram tat jneyam
neyam co 'tam samasatah
madbhakta etad vajnãya
mcidbhãvãyo ' papadyat
(18) Thus the field, also knowledge and the object of know-ledge have been briefly described. My devotee who under-stands thus becomes worthy of My state.
