Chapter-7 Adhyātma Yogaḥ

bhūmir-āpo’nalo vāyuḥ khaṃ mano buddhir-eva ca | ahaṅkāra itīyaṃ me bhinnā prakṛtir-aṣṭadhā || 4 || 4. Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intellect and the principle of ego; thus My material nature [Prakṛti] is divided eightfold. Commentary “Prakṛti is the material cause of this universe, consisting of endless varieties of objects and means of enjoyment and places of enjoyment, is divided into eightfold substances; — all pertain to Krishna.”
