What are the characteristics of 'Sattva'? How does it hind the soul to the body?

sinless Arjuna, Sattva, being stainless, is illuminating and flawless, but it binds the soul to the body by creating attachment to happiness and wisdom.(6)

What are the characteristics of 'Rajas' and how does it bind?

Son of Kunti, Rajas is of the nature of passion, as born of thirst (cupidity) and attachment. It binds the soul to the body by attachment to action.(7)

What are the characteristics of 'Tamas' and how does it bind?

Arjuna, Tamas born of ignorance is the deluder of all embodies beings. It binds the soul to the body through heedlessness, indolence and sleep.(8)

What do the three 'Gunas' do before binding the soul, O Lord?

Bharata, Sattva dominates by binding one to happiness, Rajas by binding to action; while Tamas dominates, clouding wisdom binding one to heedlessness.(9)

How does anyone of them dominate a being, O Lord?

Arjuna, Sattva prevails suppressing Rajas and Tamas; Rajas prevails suppressing Sattva and 'Tamas: and Tamas prevails suppressing Sattva and Rajas.(10)
