24. External purity

25. Absence of malice

26. Absence of pride.

O Arjuna, these are the marks of the person who possesses divine traits viz., he who possesses these traits deserves My devotion.[1](1—3)

  1. In this context the question arises that those who possess the divine traits deserve devotion, but the vile sinner who does not possess thew traits can't deserve it. It is a fact, but even if the vilest sinner worships God with exclusive devotion, he becomes a saint very quickly viz., he by God's grace possesses the divine traits quickly (Gita 9/30-31).
