Gita Govinda -Shri Jayadeva Gosvami
Act Four : snigdha madhusüdanaù
The Tender Slayer of Madhu
Scene Nine
Song 9
Verse 18
May this song of Shri Jayadeva bestow happiness upon the devotees who are unconditionally surrendered at the feet of Kṛṣṇa. CommentaryThis song will certainly be a source of joy for the unalloyed devotees because their meditation will easily arrive at the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa (keçava-padam) simply by remembering the field of Rädhä’s heart described herein. Another meaning is, “The poet has recited this song in the presence of the pure devotees (Vaiñëavas).” The etymology of keçavaù padam is sthänaà yasyä ’sau taà keçava-padam – “Those Vaiñëavas who have attained Bhagavän are called keçava-pada.” The song is embellished throughout by upamä alaìkära. The metre is mäläcatuñpadé chanda. |
