सम: शत्रौ च मित्रे च तथा मानापमानयो: । शीतोष्णसुखदु:खेषु सम: संग्ङविवर्जित: ।।18।।
जो शत्रु-मित्र में और मान-अपमान में सम है तथा सरदी, गरमी और सुख- दु:खादि द्वन्द्वों में सम है और आसक्ति से रहित है ।।18।।
He who is alike to friend and foe, as well as to honour and ignominy, who remains balanced in heat and cold, pleasure and pain and other contrary experiences, and is free from attachment. (18)
